This product will not fit 31.8 handlebars!!! There is nothing in the description that says what size it will fit, except, "fits most road and mountain bikes". Well, it doesn't fit any of the newer ATB bikes that take a 31.8mm clamp in the stem. I'm going to have to use shims to reduce the clamp size to a 25.4, and buy a new straight 25,4 handlebar so I can use these bars. This is the third set I've had on three different bikes, and I've given them as presents to other comfort and ATB riders. They are better than any others for comfort or hybrid type riders (as am I) because they sit higher and they extend further back toward the seat than others for easier and closer elbow comfort. And, of course, the price on these can't be beat. They don't take abuse very well, very thin alloy, so when the last set I had started to stress,(after 10 years and about 50,000 miles) and show signs of cracking at the bolt holes, I filled the hollow tubes with liquid fiber glass resin, and let it harden... I had this bar on my last bike, and totally love it. I'm buying a new one for my new bike.The bars are very comfortable, when used for their intended purpose, but that's just one aspect. I have back problems, and have never found another bar that can be easily used for multiple hand positions. The foam pads are perfect for elevating yourself on your hands. As a full time rider, (no car for 16yr,) I have also found this bar useful for carrying large or awkward loads, (ie. balances a large turkey, or my laundry bag with ease.) I had this set-up on a Diamondback Flat-bar roadbike, and will be putting the new one on the same style Giant, not sure how it works with drop bars. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful:  aerobar comfy, but some minor issues, By This review is from: Pyramid - Tri Black Alloy Bicycle Handlebar, 25.4mm, w/ Rubber Grips (Misc.) This aerobar is used on my Felt flatbar roadbike. I take long rides pulling my boys in a burley trailer in the back, and this position helps a lot. However, thye did come loose a couple times, and haven't now for a few years, also the armrests move a bit, which could be a blessing or a curse. All in all, out of all of the others i've seen, this one offers the most versatility in arm/hand position without the high cost. Benefits far outweigh having to tighten a few times in the last 5 or so years. |
